More Population Stuff
The previous post neglected to update on total population growth rates from this most recent quarterly data:

Previous exceptional growth in Victoria was driven by a combination of both interstate and overseas migration but had been waning from peak Melbourne for some time.
The ABS Labour Force Survey employment numbers also released today provide their monthly estimates of working age population up to November which are an input to the survey to derive employment:

Bear in mind that the numbers in both graphs are annual growth which will continue to roll down until some time into 2021. Next week when it is released I’ll have a look at what numbers are being punched in for the regions as this hasn’t always been too flash in the past from ABS.
