AirBnB listings decline

Another data source where I can’t vouch for the robustness of the data but was twitter referenced by a prominent and reputable real estate identity:

This indicates that active AirBnB properties in Australia may have declined by around 50,000 or 25% so far in 2020. To think only last year Gerry Harvey was radio advertising AirBnB furniture packages on local Cairns radio.

It isn’t clear but I presume “New Bookings” does not relate to the period of occupancy but forward bookings. Rebound also correlates with school holidays as well as easing restrictions. There are also forecasts for coming months:

This shows very large declines in forward occupancy relative to 2019 despite diminished stock.
